QUEST FOR GOLD (5.4.1-P) PDF Print E-mail

On behalf of the Provincial Womens' Softball Association, we are pleased to announce this continued opportunity for female fastball athletes in Ontario. In conjunction with the Government of Ontario, and as a result of funding from the "Quest for Gold" lottery, funding for athletes will be made available to increase training opportunities while in Ontario, and ultimately increase the number of Ontario athletes on the National Team, as well as the overall performance of athletes.
This project addresses the demand for qualified training opportunities for athletes. This demand, through access to training dollars, will allow PWSA athletes to increase their skill level and continue to improve on the foundation they have developed.

The PWSA would like to take this opportunity to thank the Government of Ontario and Quest for Gold for this opportunity to assist our athletes.

Quest for Gold Announcement - continued

New Quest for Gold Tickets

The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation announces its launch of the newest ticket in the Quest for Gold lottery game.

Since first introduced in January 2006 to help Ontario’s high-performance athletes achieve excellence in sport, the net proceeds of this lottery game have had a significant impact on the programs operated and supported by the Ministry of Health Promotion.  In just under 2 years the Quest for Gold Program has contributed to advancing the goal of “Enhanced Excellence” under the ACTIVE2010 Strategy – Ontario’s Sport and Physical Activity Strategy.  Quest for Gold has already provided direct financial support to over 1,400 of Ontario’s high performance athletes, supported the training of over 1,000 high performance-level coaches and allowed for increased hosting grants for the Ontario Games Program.

In 2007-2008, total funding provided under the program will be $10 million, delivered through three distinct funding streams – the Ontario Athlete Assistance Program, Enhanced Coaching Initiatives and Enhanced Training and Competitive Opportunities.
